PET ONE Ltd. Announces Major Entry into European Market Following EU TRACES Registration

On July 30, PET ONE Ltd. announced its official registration with the EU TRACES (European Union Trade Control and Expert System) in July 2024, marking a significant step toward expanding K-pet food products in the European market.

TRACES is a critical certification platform mandated by the European Commission to facilitate import and export within the EU. It provides the necessary official documentation for phytosanitary certificates, importation of animals and goods into the EU, and their transit and export within and from the EU.

According to Statista, around 91 million European households, accounting for approximately 46 percent of the total, own at least one pet. The pet food market in 44 European countries is expected to continue growing, with online distribution channels also projected to expand.

Specifically, the European pet food market is forecasted to reach $42.82 billion (about KRW 57 trillion) in 2024, with annual growth of 4.25%, potentially reaching $50.58 billion (about KRW 68 trillion) by 2028. As of 2024, the European pet food market revenue comprises approximately 28.6 percent of the global pet food market.

With the recent TRACES registration, PET ONE is now prepared to enter the European pet food market with its K-pet food products. Having achieved HACCP and ISO 9001, 22000 certifications in May, the company is set to embark on expanded exports across Europe, Asia, and the Americas by 2025. Additionally, in 2023, PET ONE acquired SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification and relocated to a new facility in Samjuk-myeon, Anseong, which is four times larger than the previous factory. The new factory is equipped with advanced smart technology to maximize production efficiency and quality, enabling the manufacture of premium pet food and treats.

CEO Sang-ho Park of PET ONE stated, "The European pet food market has seen steady growth, driven by the increase in single-person households, rising income levels, and the 'Pet Humanization' trend of treating pets as family. PET ONE aims to firmly establish itself in the European pet market, which accounts for 28.6% of the global pet food market, leveraging the EU TRACES registration as a strategic foothold."
